Power Assure Named A 'Cool Vendor' By Leading Industry Analyst Firm

                        ...

Vendors Selected for the “Cool Vendor Report” are Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing

Santa Clara, Calif., August 25, 2011Power Assure®, Inc., a data center infrastructure and energy management solutions provider, today announced it has been named one of five technology vendors in the Gartner, Inc.  “Cool Vendors in Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools, 2011”1 report by Jay E. Pultz, Jeffrey Hewitt, David J. Cappuccio and Rakesh Kumar.

The “Cool Vendor” list is a regular report that Gartner issues to highlight technology that is innovative, enables users to do things they could not do before, is impactful and has been found to be intriguing by analysts over the past six months.

“Power usage in the data center is growing at 20% every year.  Our goal is to double the efficiency of power use in every data center while improving reliability,” said Brad Wurtz, president and CEO, Power Assure.  “With Power Assure EM/4 software, data center managers can collect, synthesize and analyze the overwhelming amount of raw data available from facilities and IT and turn it into useful business information.  Recognition from Gartner as a cool vendor in our marketplace is another important milestone for us.  We think our software is pretty cool, and our customers do, too.  We are pleased to see further recognition for our efforts.”

According to Gartner, “when it comes to knowing how much power is being consumed, data center managers are in the dark.” The vendors included in the “cool vendor report” recognize this situation and have responded with products and services to measure, monitor and even manage power consumption.

Gartner identifies power as representing a fundamental constraint to data center size, capacity and utilization. The firm predicts that "DCIM tools and processes will become mainstream in data centers, growing from 1% penetration in 2010 to 60% in 2014."
