Power Assure Dynamic Power Management
Power Assure's Dynamic Power Management software allows the data center operator to balance the supply of compute power with the level of demand from customer applications. As demand fluctuates over the day, our automation software adjusts the number of servers operating in a data center to optimize overall server utilization based on application load, power consumption, real-time energy prices, and environmental conditions. The result: true demand-based computing with an average 50% savings on energy costs for servers under Power Assure management.
Power Management Software Optimizes Server Utilization
Power Assure's Dynamic Power Management module continuously matches server availability with demand and service levels. All power and application load sources are polled once per minute. This data is then sent back to our central calculation engine for analysis. Instructions are then sent back and implemented through the automation of your own “runbooks.” The platform operates in conjunction with standard load balancing and virtualization solutions that distribute application load across available servers.
In addition, our online database tracks all of the assets in your data center along with their key metrics, including power draw and service level requirements for your customers. The software can also adjust cooling systems (fan speed, water temperature, and water flow) to further reduce energy consumption and increase overall efficiency.

P100 Energy Controller

The management software module resides on the Power Assure P100 Energy Controller, provided and serviced by Power Assure. The P100 is easily mounted in your server rack at your data center or lab environment, and typically resides on your management network. Depending on the size of the data center, a single controller may support both the monitoring and management software modules. In very large data centers multiple controllers may be required. Our Web-based dashboard integrates and displays power data from both facilities and IT to provide real-time energy monitoring and management.

SAAS or Onsite Deployment Options
The Power Assure software is delivered as a service, with the backend processing system residing at Power Assure's secure data center. If security requirements demand it, a hosted service can be provided at your own data center facility — with Power Assure providing management and support. Our SaaS solution includes a shared reference database containing statistics on various data center equipment, a simulation engine for trying out various changes to see the affect before changes are made, a calculation engine to determine the optimal number of servers for each application, a core operational process automation engine that directs dynamic management of servers, and a customer archive and inventory that stores the historic configuration, operation, and energy consumption and savings data.
