Brad Wurtz

President and CEO

Brad's 20-year career encompasses leadership roles in growing high technology companies in the global telecommunications and data center networking markets. Before joining Power Assure, Brad served as president and board member for networking start-up, Compass Electro-Optical Systems, where he defined company strategy and successfully raised two rounds of funding. Previously, Brad was CEO and president for Caspian Networks, a supplier of high capacity routers for service providers and large enterprises. Prior to Caspian, Brad spent 10 years with Cisco Systems, where he served as vice president and general manager of the Company's carrier packet voice business. He also served as vice president and general manager of Cisco's multi-service switching business (formerly Stratacom) and before that led the development and launch of Cisco's GSR 12000 service provider router. He has a BA from University of California/Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford University.

Clemens Pfeiffer

Founder and CTO

Clemens is a 22-year veteran of the software industry, where he has held leadership roles in process modeling and automation, software architecture and database design, and data center management and optimization technologies. Before co-founding Power Assure, he served as founder, president and CEO for 10 years at International SoftDevices Corporation, focused on designing and implementing a multi-industry smart process automation platform and integration agents called "Digital Employees." Prior to SoftDevices, Clemens served as chief software architect for Hewlett Packard, in charge of innovative process automation that resulted in multiple patents and various products that helped launch the Company's software business. During his tenure at HP he modeled high level business processes and designed IT architecture recommendations for global banks, telecom companies, and the U.S. Department of Defense. He and his wife currently run a rescue center for exotic pet birds. Clemens holds a MS degree in Information Technology from Furtwangen University, Germany.

L. William Krause

Independent Board Member

L. William (Bill) Krause has been president of LWK Ventures, a private investment firm since 1991. Mr. Krause served as Chairman of the Board of Caspian Networks, an IP networking systems provider, from 2002 to 2006. Previously, Mr. Krause served as Chairman and CEO of Exodus Communications where he guided Exodus through Chapter 11 bankruptcy to a sale of assets. Prior to that, Mr. Krause was President and CEO of 3Com Corporation from February 1981 to September 1990 and Chairman of the Board from September 1987 to September 1993 when he retired. Also, Mr. Krause was employed at Hewlett-Packard Company for 14 years in various marketing and general management assignments. Mr. Krause serves as a director of the following public companies: Brocade Communications Systems, Coherent, Core-Mark Holding, and Sybase. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and received an honorary doctorate of science from The Citadel.

Josh Raffaelli

Draper Fisher Jurvetson

Joshua Raffaelli is an Associate and Kauffman Fellow at Draper Fisher Jurvetson. Joshua's primary areas of interest are in energy and services businesses. Prior to joining Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Joshua was an Analyst at Och-Ziff (OZ) Capital Management in London where he focused on merger arbitrage and emerging market investments in the logistics and oil and gas markets. Prior to OZ, Joshua was an analyst at JPMorgan's Technology Investment Banking group in San Francisco where he focused on mergers & acquisitions and debt and equity offerings for media-related consumer products and software clients. Joshua also worked in the Debt Capital Markets group at JPMorgan in New York where he worked on acquisition-related transactions in a variety of industries including energy, waste management, telecommunications, semiconductors, and health care services. Joshua is a Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University with a BA in Government and an MBA from Stanford Business School.

Bernard Brenninkmeijer

Good Energies

Bernard Brenninkmeijer joined the venture capital team of Good Energies in the beginning of 2010. Bernard is also a director with Bregal Investments, a private equity investment organization. Before Bregal, he worked with First Wilshire Securities Management as a micro-cap stock analyst. Previous positions include associate experience with Egeria, a Dutch mid-market buyout fund and a range of operational and financial positions with the clothing retailers C&A and ARG in Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Pasadena. Bernard graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a major in economics and a minor in computer applications. Subsequently, he obtained an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France.

Zaid Ashai

Point Judith Capital

Zaid Ashi leads the Point Judith Cleantech investing efforts with a focus on energy IT. He joined Point Judith Capital from Good Energies, a leading multi-stage Cleantech venture firm where he led investments in cleantech companies Nexamp, 3Tier, Emergence Bioengineering, Everpower, and Kalpan. While at Good Energies, Zaid was elected a Kauffman Fellow. He joined Good Energies from HarbourVest Partners, a global private equity firm based in Boston, MA. As an associate at HarbourVest, Zaid completed early stage and growth equity investments in the technology sector. He had board level responsibilities on Intertrade Systems, Trellix Networks, Moai Technologies, and Network Engines. Before joining HarbourVest Partners, he was an investment banking analyst in Credit Suisse's Technology Group. Zaid holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and an MPA from the JFK School of Government at Harvard University. At Harvard University, Zaid was selected as a Zuckerman Fellow. He has an AB in international relations and economics, with honors and Phi Beta Kappa, from Brown University.
